Saturday, February 4th
l CBHS Shelter Volunteer Orientation (must be 16 years of age or older to participate in the orientation program), from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Central Brevard Humane Society - 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa
The Central Brevard Humane Society (CBHS) is in need of dedicated individuals or groups who care about the welfare of animals. Volunteering opportunities are available at the shelter, their (4) Molly Mutt Thrift Shops located in historic downtown Melbourne, Merritt Island, Palm Bay and Rockledge, their “low cost” spay/neuter & wellness clinic or as a “Society Ambassador” during community outreach (off-site) events.
Volunteer activities may include walking dogs, socializing cats, grooming animals, shelter beautification projects; as well as retail help at the thrift shops and assisting with community education and adoption events. The Humane Society is always looking for volunteers with grant writing, fundraising, clerical and animal handling/obedience training experience.
Pre-registration is required. All volunteer applications must be completed prior to the start of the Volunteer Orientation Program. During orientation, please wear long pants (no shorts) and closed toed shoes (no flip flops). Friday, February 10th
l PetSmart Adopt-a-thon – 1800 Evans Road, Melbourne, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will showcase some of the Central Brevard Humane Society’s (CBHS) shelter dogs & cats, and will provide the public with fun educational information about responsible pet ownership. There will also be CBHS merchandise there for purchase. All proceeds will go to help provide care to the homeless animals in Brevard County.

l CBHS’s Adoptable Pets Event at the Central Brevard Humane Society’s Molly Mutt III Thrift Shop – 876 North U.S. Highway 1, Rockledge, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be a few cats there for adoption.

Saturday, February 18th
l Dawgs 4 Paws to benefit the Central Brevard Humane Society - Dogs Family Sports Bar & Grill, 1580 E. Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
This monthly event will feature a specific sport theme (February – NBA Season/Daytona 500), along with adoptable animals from the Humane Society (adopters will receive a “FREE” gift from Dogs Bar & Grill), demonstrations, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, drink specials and much, much more! Admission is “FREE” for everyone including the “furry” friends. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier and have proof of current shots along with a county tag.
The Central Brevard Humane Society will also be there providing the public with fun educational information about responsible pet ownership, and will have merchandise available for purchase.
Proceeds from this event will help raise awareness and financial support for the thousands of unwanted and abandoned pets that visit the Humane Society each year, who need a safe and loving “forever” home.
Sunday, February 19th
l 9th Annual Molly Mutt Poker Run - Central Brevard Humane Society, 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Central Brevard Humane Society will host its 9th Annual Molly Mutt Poker Run on Sunday, February 19th, starting at 10 a.m. at the Humane Society, located at 1020 Cox Road in Cocoa. The cost to participate in the run will be $7.00 per hand or (2) hands for $10.00. Donations of pet supplies are greatly appreciated. All vehicles are welcome.
The run will begin at the Central Brevard Humane Society and will end at the Warlock MC Clubhouse. The first bike out will be scheduled to leave at 10 a.m., with the last one departing at 11:30 a.m. Event activities will include a 50/50 drawing, vendor displays, food and a live band, beginning at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for “best”, “worst” and “mystery” hands.
All proceeds from this event helps to raise awareness and financial support for the thousands of unwanted and abandoned pets that visit the shelter each year, who need a safe and loving “forever” home.

l CBHS’s Jazz Band Performs at Super Flea & Farmers Market – 4835 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Central Brevard Humane Society's Jazz Band will be playing at the Super Flea & Farmers Market's, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Band members who will be performing include leader Len Coppold on guitar, Mark Shepard on vibraphone, Al Goldenberg on clarinet and saxophone, Ernie Wilson on bass and Ernie Thompson on drums.
All donations raised will help to create awareness and financial support for the thousands of unwanted and abandoned pets that visit the Central Brevard Humane Society each year, who need a safe and loving “forever” home.
l 6th Annual Mardi Gras Paws in the Park - Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village, from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
Mardi Gras Paws in the Park is a “FREE” animal and family friendly event for pet lovers young and the young at heart that will include rescue groups, a vendor village, pet contests, the crowning of the “furry” King and Queen of the Park, a demonstration from the Brevard Sheriff Department’s Paws & Stripes Cadets, a Mardi Gras Parade of Pets and live entertainment. All animals must be on a leash and have proof of current shots along with a county tag.
